Fiskars interchangeable border punch lattice tutorial

Hello there everyone!
Today I am going to share with you a tutorial on how to make a lattice type background using yourFiskars interchangeable border punch and the cartridge dream weaving.
First you need to grab a piece of patterned or plain paper 6 x 6 inches square. you can do different sizes but this size when folding seems to work well. when you pick your paper make sure it is not too thick other wise you will not be able to punch double.
Fold your paper in 1/2 and pop in the punch.
P1010951
Next punch along your paper almost to the end on both sides but not quite.Open the paper up.
P1010952
Next, fold the outside edge into the middle of the paper.
P1010953
Put the folded edge into the punch and once again lunch to almost the edge on both sides.
P1010954
Open the paper up and do the same thing on the other side.
P1010955
Once you have done this you can trim the paper to fit your card.
With my card i used Helmars liquid scrap dots (i am in love with this product!) and attached my lattice to my card so it was raised up.
P1010946
Then all i needed to do was decorate the card!
P1010948
P1010949
I used My Fiskars jenni Bowlin jester border punch for the tab to put the sentiment on. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches. I used Fiskars oak leaf squeeze punch and a Die to cut out the Felt heart.
The Stamped image is from Some odd girl and i coloured with copics.
With the different colours behind the lattice i made it becomes quite an effective background.
Just remember.....
* Do not use to thick paper or scrapbooking paper as it will be too hard to punch.
* When folding your paper to punch you do not have to crease it just fold enough to fit in the punch.
* THink about what colour you are going to use when punching as the patter can get lost in the papers pattern.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and have a go!

CAS-ual Fridays 48 opposites attract!

It is CAS-ual Friday again and i am running SOOOOO late with this post. i think i am down to the wire to get this post done and then entered into the challenge. All i can say is.....Kids! and school holidays.

Well for this challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays it is all about the colour wheel and opposites.
I am a big fan of this colour combo and do tend to us opposites a fair bit! so with this challenge i picked
Yellow and Purple!

Here is my card.

I used some Bo Bunny papers and rubons, and a Paper Smooches stamp from the falling for you set.
To make the monsters tooth and horns white i used tim holtz distress marker in picket fence. this marker is great for little jobs that you need white.
I would say to head on over and have a go but the challenge is almost over so check out the next challenge on friday.

Mad 4 Markers challenge something wet...with a twist.

Good Morning everyone! Right. I thought i would do something different today with the whole colour something wet challenge.
Twist it up a little and be a little "outside the box"with the whole theme.
I thought i would watercolour with my copics! Yep! you heard right, water colour......well get the effect of watercolouring with them really! (Well watercolouring is wet isn't it!!!)

There are 3 main things you will need for this technique. colourless blender refill. which you can purchase from Mad for Markers. ( the shop is closed for a bit while Sammi get her home moved but she will open again real soon.) A stamp which has a lot of area that you can colour in, and a little spray bottle like a mini mister that will create a fine spray. Oh and of course your copic markers!!! duh!

Now before you go screaming"OH NO"don't colour in with your markers on stamps it will ruin them. i assure you as long as when you finish you give them a really good clean with either colourless blender or some staz on stamp cleaner they will be fine. at the end of the day staz on is solvent based and does not seen to damage the stamps. Its all about the cleaning after!
All you need to do is grab your copics and go from light to dark and colour your stamp. do not worry if it dries that is where the blender and mister comes in.
Once your image is coloured pop a little of your colourless blender into your mister and spray LIGHTLY onto your stamp with the ink on it. Then stamp.
You do not have to use watercolour paper for this. any paper is fine. i used kraft card. it bleed a little but hey! i was going for the watercolour look!!!

Here is the card.

And here are the copics i used.

As you can see i also used my copics and colourless blender to colour my ribbon and also my flowers. I saturated them both first with blender before colouring them with the chisel end of my copics.

I hope you have a go at this as it is lots of fun and you can get some great effects. All you need to do to enter this months challenge is head on over to mad 4 markers challenge blog and enter!

Paper smooches Sparks challenge 5th-18th April

so it is that time once again over at Paper Smooches SPARKS a new picture for inspiration and a new challenge to go with it.
Here is the inspiration.
and after a LOT of thinking with this one.......here is my card.

I used a bunch of paper smooches stamps for this card including word salad, debonair, and eco friendly.
I coloured with copics and after getting a great tip from Tim Holtz about using water-based dye ink on clear stamps, primed ten and used ...for the first time without at mess...i might add......my jenni bowlin ink pads!
I then coloured the sentiment with a glitter marker. I used the wonderful Helmar liquid scrap dots for dimension with the lion and sheep, then added some twine to create a kind of layer for the pic to "sit"on.
So head on over to the challenge and have a go! you still have a few days to enter!!!

Moxie Fab World- paper scraps challenge

Over at Moxie Fab World there is another challenge going on. this challenge is to use your paper scraps on a card or project.
I do not know about you but i always seem to have heaps of paper scraps. What do you do with yours???
I store all mine in an old stampin up plastic case that some wood mount stamps use to be in.

So i went through my scrap pile and grabbed a bunch of papers.

Then i grabbed a couple of my My Favorite things die-namic dies cut a bunch of letters and created this card.

I made sure that the "i " the "heart"and the "u"were all able to stand out on the card.

That do you think? you could do this with plenty of sayings to get a good effect.
Why not enter the challenge over at  Moxie Fab World!

Moxie Fab World- Using household items challenge.

Moxie fab world have a bunch of great challenges going on their blog at the moment but today i would like to share with you my entry for the household item challenge.

Whit the household item challenge you had to go out into your home and find something that you could use on a card layout off the page item.
I decided to hunt in my kitchen and i came up with the following.....

Cupcake cases.

I thought about making flowers with them but, lets be honest it has been done before and they are always on Easter hats etc. So i decided to do something else with them.
Here is what i came up with.

How cute does Geeky Mae look in her new Rock n'Roll skirt!
I cut Mae in 1/2 then glued her inside the cupcake case so the skirt went round the full 360 degrees.
I used Echo Park Happy days papers which i brought from Simon Says Stamps and Geeky Mae was a Digital image, though if you would like to buy any of the Some odd girl stamps or Copic markers you can get them from Mad 4 Markers or Some odd girl.

There is still plenty of time to get your entry in over at Moxie fab world.

CAS-ual fridays #46 name that tune.

It is challenge time again with CAL-ual fridays and i love it!
There is so many tunes you can make a card for, even my hubby was joining in with this challenge saying things like 'make a big "J" and add arms and legs for moves like jagger!' or 'what about a monkey in a coffin for im a believer (too soon rob...poor davy jones!)'
This went on for like 30 mins!

Check out the challenge Here.

So i decided to totally ignore my insane husband shouting out names of songs as whacky ways to use them in a card and go with a tune that i remember as  a kid.

I started to learn the clarinet when i was 10. i never wanted to learn the clarinet.... i wanted a drum kit, but santa one year must have decided that a drum kit was WAY too noisy for my parents and so i got a clarinet.

One of the first songs that i remember playing in the school band on my clarinet was a song by Tony Orlando called 'tie a yellow ribbon' it is all about a man coming home from prison hoping that his gal will want him back. i do not know what it is about the song but when i hear it it always brings back happy memories of primary school and me squeaking away in the band on my clarinet. ( yep! i was a band geek!)
So this is what i created. a welcome home card.

I thought it would be nice to have a little bunny waiting for her loved one to return home....ahhhhhhhh.

I used Lawn Fawn critters in the burbs for this card, a bunch of different papers and paper smooches sentiment.

what do you think???

Here is what i made.

I stamped the background peacock stamp and then set to work with a bunch of different tim holtz distress ink pads and a blending tool. then once i blended the colours together i flicked water on the image and then some perfect pearls too dried the card then stamped on the peacock and sentiment.
